October 28, 201312 yr Hi, Just built a new system and keep getting Fatal Error CTDs with the faulting module being shown as igdumdim32.dll. Simple specs are : i7-4770k on an ASUS Z87-A board 16Gb ram of 1600MHz (memtests OK) No graphics card - using the onboard Intel HD4600 Windows 7 64 Ultimate Using latest ASUS drivers Runs fine on opening with 1920*1080 and most settings to the right (Autogen at Medium to low) with 20fps locked. (even with Orbx PNW installed) HIGHMEMFIX=1 mod has been applied. Tried uiautiomationcore.dll but makes no difference. Basically what happens is if I keep selecting the menu to change aircraft or graphics setting it eventually crashes when going to reload the textures, autogen, etc. with the above error - copy of Event Viewer info below Faulting application name: fsx.exe, version: 10.0.61472.0, time stamp: 0x475e17d3 Faulting module name: igdumdim32.dll, version: 9.18.10.3257, time stamp: 0x51f73fa8 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x000b0581 Faulting process id: 0x1664 Faulting application start time: 0x01ced413a53041ab Faulting application path: E:\FSX\fsx.exe Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\igdumdim32.dll Report Id: 235121ee-4007-11e3-bf85-74d02b92c925 Set application compatibility to Vista (SP2) ; Run as Admin but still crashes. Tried different Intel graphics drivers (new and old) but makes no difference. Even tried installing on fresh Win 8 Enterprise trial but get the same error. From a bit of experimenting seems error occurs after installing FSX SP2 although that could be imagination. Any thoughts? Anyone else suffered with this - and would a dedicated graphics card help although trying not to spend too much more (and 20-30fps is fine for me!) Thanks, Kevin Kevin Pepper
October 28, 201312 yr The problem is the Intel HD4600 onboard video. Here's a possible solution - http://forum.avsim.net/topic/413082-igdumdim32dll-crash/. October 29, 201312 yr Author Thanks Jim, Fantastically quick response. Not usually keen on those programs that scan your computer and tell you what needs updating but tried it and it suggested a more recent Intel HD driver. Wasn't available to find it on Intel's website but found a version to download with a Google search (even more nervous about drivers from unknown sources!). Touch wood, it seems to be working fine - I can change settings over and over again and it hasn't crashed one yet. For those in a similar situation the driver I used is 10.18.10.3325. I will report back in a few days with an update. Kevin Kevin Pepper
November 3, 201312 yr Hi All, I would like to bump this topic as I'm suffering from similar but not the same problem related to igdumdim32.dll. I'm running FSX on Win7 Pro x64, DX10 preview, windowed mode. During many days of testing I managed to get stable simulation with good fps. I've got 2xRadeon7950 crossfired. My setup is multi monitor with 2 x 22" Dell running eyefinity display group. Now, my system is also equipped with internal GPU which is Intel HD 4000 series. I'm using it to run small 9' display for instruments. CDT occurs only when I'm trying to drag undocked instrument window onto this small screen controlled by Intel HD 4000. It is 100% recurrent problem. My intel driver is updated to latest 10.18.10.3325 version. Previous version suffered the same problem. Any ideas ? I'm flying with standalone instruments (testing different frameworks, currently gaugebook) but it would be nice to have some nice GA gauges like realityxp. I need to solve this problem before I spend money on realityxp stuff. Many thanks in advance.
November 4, 201312 yr So that's what's causing your crashes, the Intel HD 4000 cannot handle your request. Are you undocking and moving the gauge to the small screen in Windowed mode or full screen mode. I have just two monitors and I will have issues undocking to my secondary monitor in full screen. It's okay until I touch it and try to move it. I think what you are asking is impossible unless you use just the two 7950's. Have you checked in the AVSIM Monitor, Video Card forum to see if there is a solution there. There are many people running fsx on multiple monitors. November 4, 201312 yr I'm running FSX in windowed mode and as far as I understand the principals of windowed mode it should be possible to undock instrument panel and drag it onto secondary display. On the other hand I tried to do the same with small screen connected to second 7950 (they can't be crossfired in that case) and got similar CDT but related to ati driver. So, maybe it's impossible even in windowed mode no matter what graphics card I'm using ? I will try to ask video card forum as You suggested. Kind Regards, Jeremy.
