Unusual Problem with 777 and SquawkBox Radios?

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I have search the NET and here to no avail with the following.

Just bought the PMDG 777 and on my first attempt to fly On Line, with SB I find that SB does not recognize the frequency I am on.

It does recognize the type of a/c B772 the VA but it gives me on the bottom right hand side 'Transmitting on 136.97 (text only)'

When I change freq in the aircraft nothing changes on the SB window. Works fine with PMDG B737.

SB vers is 4.0

Latest FSX patch.

And brand new B777.

Any suggestions guys?

Thanks

Bat

As Jordan said: configure your radio's. You don't have to do that in the NGX, it's done already in that plane.

Thanks guys, I knew I could count on you. Just to be more specific for other users about where exactly is the button in question I am including the following picture.

But for my information where can I find this and other info on all those buttons like CAB PA SAT etc in the documentation^

Thanks again guys.

That's only the audio indicator.  You need to hit the larger button above it to select the MIC on that frequency.

As others have stated, this is already outlined in the manuals.  The issue you're experiencing is addressed in the much shorter intro manual because the clever gents who wrote it knew what would trip people up.  The hope was that people would read the shorter manual and avoid the multiple posts regarding the issue.

Thanks for your response, I know all about RTFM, but give me a break I just got the bird two days ago. I am alone here, I need some new friends nobody likes me... :(

Besides that if everyone would read the manual thorougly there would be no reason for this forum. B)

And by the way I just pushed the circular button not the rectangulare one and it worked just the same.

Now, ref the manual can you indicate to me where is it in the manual that we can get a FULL description of that exact portion of the equipment. And in wich F manual as Lukas would say. ;-)

@Scan: I had seen it in the Intro manual and I have read all of that manual but the intro DID NOT indicate precisly wich button, no picture. Just underneath the appropriate button is a switch with Mic and Int I tried that switch so many times I broke it. Took a switch from the NGX to replace it.

Thanks guys have a nice day.

The intro manual is 160 pages.  It's not that hard to digest, particularly because most of that 160 is pictures.  No excuses.

Not true.  We just pointed out that it's in the manual so that you might refer to it next time if you found something that's causing an issue.

That's not true.  If people read the manual, the forum would be free to discuss more educated issues than what's already been written.  Nice try though.  Someone always tries raising that point, but it really isn't the truth.  Additionally, information passed here gets interpreted, translated, and digested in ways that the original message ends up getting changed over the course of things.

I feel like I've said this before...

Yep!

It allowed you to transmit?

FCoMv2 5.10.1

Found that after searching "radio" for about 3 minutes (both FCOMs).

The first response to your initial post took about 6 hours.

...you really want to get into the "manuals take too long - it's better to ask here," argument?

The manuals, despite the normal human aversion to doing work by themselves, are actually faster and require a lot less work ("radio" is 5 characters, your initial post was 506).  As mentioned earlier, not having to address simple issues already mentioned in the intro manual also frees up the knowledgeable people in the forum to answer questions that aren't exactly discussed in the manuals, like techniques, the ins and outs of ATC, and other things.

I do see your point, to a certain degree, but saying "read the manual," isn't the evil phrase people make it out to be.

Huh? Nobody likes you?

This is a flight sim hobby forum, not high school.

Seriously, where does that comment come from?
