Better autopilot for F-18

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I like flying the default F-18, however I do not like the autopilot that much, is there a way to get better interface for it?

I can use the hdg,alt and spd hold bugs, but I do not see the value, except for the heading.

I would like to see what altitude is the autopilot holding or going to as well as the speed, because right now with the alt and spd holds im just guessing.

If it is possible to have some better interface where I could see the values through some mod or addon, that would be great.

Thanks

You could try this mod by Jivko Rusev: http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=new+realistic+hud&categoryId=

It's very easy to just drop the couple files in the Panel folder.  Just remember to backup the panel.cfg (renaming to panel.cfg.bak will work)

It uses the standard FSX Bendix / King avionics stack and adds another popup switches panel.

As far as speed hold, the autopilot uses v/s, of course, not speed... but this gets you "close".

The link is not working.

I'm using Opera and it works just fine. Tried it in Firefox and Internet Explorer, works as well. But here, I posted it on my Google Drive for you:

If that's not working, it's time to change your browser

That one worked for me. Perhaps some problem on route between my isp and the server.

Probably.

By the way there's a manual too in the files somewhere that describes all new functions and here's another manual for FSX Hornet:

...autopilot operation should be there as well. Anyway, feel free to ask if you need any help, although I haven't properly played FSX for a year... so manuals would probably be the better choice ^_^

Cheers, George.

There is quite a lot of new planes in that file with a lot of different variants. Some have some "Effects" and some dont. Im kinda lost what " effects" those are :D

It's all the same. Kinda. There are Effects and Multiplayer. Only difference is that Multiplayer versions shouldn't have some visual effects so it doesn't eat so much FPS for you when flying with other people. For singleplayer flying, use Effects and not MP.

Cheers, George.
