I was reading another thread about the release of the DC-8 by Just Flight.  I really like the oldies, like the Boeing 707 727 DC-9/Coolsky etc.

 

    For those who recently purchased the DC-8 give me a few positives about the dc-8.  I understandstand it does not have the complexity of a PMDG, but how does it perform,in fsx.  Do you get a smooth flight ? Are frame rates fluctuating ?  What are your opinions graphically ? How is the VC ?   Finally overall how would you evaluate this product.

 

     I want to spend my money wisely, recently purchased the PMDG T7, and Realair Duke V2.

 

     Concluding tell me like it is, before I openj up my wallet.  Need some advise here.

I don't have an amazing pc. Is get , at most, 25 fps at cruise in the T7. In the DC-8 I get a constant 33, which is where I've locked my fps. I get butter smooth performance. The sound is really incredible, and very accurate. The modelling is very well proportioned. Nothing looks "off" in my opinion. The gauges and external model are in exquisite resolution, no blurries that I could see

I note you have a nVidia card so you should be fine regarding process.  ATI users are getting high frames, interspersed with horrible drops around 12 FPS every few seconds; causing stutters and ruining the experience.

I have an ATI graphics card and I haven't experienced anything like this. I must be a lucky one so if what your saying is indeed true.

I'm a big fan of the 8, especially the stretched versions.

My only reservations with regard to purchasing the Just Flight/DC8 are based on the possibilty that it may be an elderly FS9 released tarted up for FSX.

Its not a re-hash of a previous release as far as I understand it - it's an FSX from the ground up release.  I didn't test it, and don't have it (yet), but I've played with it pre-release via JF and it's decent

Every hardware config is different, and there are many ATI cards.   I didn't say that all ATI cards will suffer this problem; I've merely noticed that the vast majority of people who have reported the issue, seem to have an ATI GPU.     Thus at this stage, until Just Flight or Aeroplane Heaven identify and patch the issue, I'd struggle to recommend the add-on to ATI users, in case they are affected.
