XPX ortho/photo sceneries

Featured Replies

Before I invest in ortho textures for XPX, I'd be interested in the pros and cons from others that have tried them, compared to either the default XPX scenery, or default scenery enhanced by such add-ons as the Urban-MAXX or other products. Do the ortho sceneries have night lighting?

Any ideas much appreciated. Thanks, Bruce.

Hi Bruce,

Well, your investments are secure. Just go to simheaven and download what you need. Mostly Europe though but in very high detail. UrbanMAXX will set you back a whole $7 bucks :wink: and is a whorthwile purchase. As for night lighting, I would think so. You will get OSM roads and buildings on top of the orthos plus some autogen like trees and buildings. I guess it depends on the quality of the OSM, some areas are quite convincing.

I've done a couple of videos using orthos + OSM with decent results. Here is one;

Your video looked good. The three dimentional terrain, look of flight, etc.

Thank you Larry, the credit goes to Simheaven. I just wish they had other coverage areas like North and South America.

Just a heads up, the files are quite large, downloads can take a bit of time.

Get G2XPL and make your own, it's far better than alot of the commercially available stuff(higher LOD).

It does take some time tho'

The Sim Heaven stuff is made with G2XPL.
