Why I decided to go DX10 fxer....

Featured Replies

Actually, why I decided to, after all, re-install FSX...

I am an X-Plane 10 man now. Yes, that's indeed my preferred flight simulation platform, and the one in which I am placing my biggest expectation for the near future.

This doesn't mean that I can't follow the extremelly tempting news about the upcoming P3D v2, but, I have a problem - I have what we can already call an "old" rig,

and can't really plan to upgrade either the CPU or the GPU, not anytime soon ( maybe in 3 years if all goes well... ), so, P3D v2 will certainly be just too demanding for me :-(

Then, there is still the lack of a PMDG-like product for X-Plane 10. We are getting closer with the recent 757 release by one of the major 3pds for X-Plane, and the upcoming

iXEG 737 is going to raise the bar to very very high standards, but meanwhile I was lacking the NGX and the 777, and also the Aerosoft A320/21 which I also find a great

Airbus implementation, and now use for comparison with a similarly great one already available for X-Plane - the NEO A320...

So... ( sorry for the long wrting :-/ ) I had to re-install FSX Gold, and since I had in the past experimented DX10 and really liked it, I had to give the DX10 Fixer a try...

Well - I am totally satisfied with this decision!!! Got it yesterday, the last release, installed and configured flawlessly in my rig, fired the PMDG MGX and 777 and also de

Aerosoft AXE, and WHOW!!!! All of the graphical benefits of DX10, none of the glitches I had when I manually installed and applied the "patch formulas" available at

the excellent guide at the top of this Forum, and an absolutely crazzy smothness, like never before!!!

A final Mention of Honor to the incredibel support most of you give to use DX10 users, Staring with Steve's remarkable work in the past and now with the Fixer, but not forgetting about the contributions from Paul J, Jim, and others...

You're all over the place JC!   You're an "X-Plane man" in the second sentence but, reading the last second to last paragraph, you reinstalled FSX Gold and DX10 and your signature indicates you are on the Active Sky Beta Team.  So, what are you really?

Glad you are liking the DX10 Fixer though.

And YES!!!! The Fixer really gave me a new sim... It's FS11

Thx Jim, as you and Paul J are a great support to all of us jumping into the DX10 experience :-)

Steve is of course the Mentor of this excellent variation over an old, but still very nice theme - FSX !

He's from Portugal, all drugs are legal there ... but yes, DX10 Controller will/has probably extended FSX's life for many, especially those on a tight hardware budget.  Steve's DX10 Controller's existence has led me to buying many products I would NOT have normally purchased because of their known DX10 issues.  I think many 3rd party non-DX10 compliant developers owe much gratitude to Steve for his work.

XP10 is a great product, I recommend anyone that is a flight simulation enthusiasts to at least check it out.

And on Monday (11/29), many of us will know more about P3D V2 ... except me, I'm on vacation next week and will not have computing access (probably a good thing for me) -- so it'll have to wait.

I know it's expensive and time consuming to maintain multiple Flight Sim platforms ... I've put XP10 on the back burner for now (hope to return to it when I have more time) and have focus my energy on FSX and P3D V2 when released.

But hopefully XP10/series continues to move forward -- overall, I think it's been a very good 2013 for Flight Simulation enthusiasts.
