November 21, 201312 yr Does anyone know if LM has addressed the autogen restriction in FSX that causes compatibility issues between some addon sceneries? For example France VFR's regional sceneries are not autogen- compatible with ORBX FTX Global, and the issue is the way the autogen file structure is designed in FSX. Perhaps LM has seen this problem and decided to fix it? November 21, 201312 yr Would be nice if they did, but it seems unlikely. I guess this is the kind of problem one has to live with in a platform open to extrenal development. The only way to change this would be to let extrenal developers bypass the default terrain engine and change what textures and autogen to load for specific areas without swithing or replacing default files in the default folder structure. In my opinion one should close the entire default folder structure from being edited by anyone. There are just too many addons that go in and change things without user knwoledge and approval, and at some point I guess most of us has expereinced a conflict when a new addon needs a default file that has sadly been replaced or edited by another addon. I have never heard of the incompatibility with France VFR respecting autogen, can you please tell me what it does to your France VFR? Is it like auto suppression? November 21, 201312 yr Author I have never heard of the incompatibility with France VFR respecting autogen, can you please tell me what it does to your France VFR? If you are flying with FTX Central set to FTX Europe and flying a FTX regional scenery (i.e., England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland), the autogen in some of the France VFR Regional products are partially wiped out. I.e., you may not have all of the buildings or you may not have trees. Even if you have the setting at FTX Global Hybrid there may be problems with the France VFR sceneries. There is a lot of discussion about why this is the case, what are the results, and the aborted attempts to resolve the issue which you can read on the ORBX forum or the France VFR forum. I suggest you take a look to get the details. I have France VFR NPDC and Bretagne and they seem to work fine. However, I understand that there are autogen problems with France VFR Haute Normandie and Alsace, and with the Version 2 recently released of NPDC, so I have avoided purchasing them for the time being, although I believe they are excellent products. As far as FTX Global, I have it, it's a great improvement over the FSX default , and it covers the entire globe. I have never had a problem with it and do not think the price is unreasonable considering what it does and the coverage, but each will have to make his own decision. November 21, 201312 yr Ah ok I will take a look at those forum threads, I must have missed them. Yes, so by the sounds of it, it is some sort of autogen suppression. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3
