December 14, 200421 yr Hi all My vector expansion for Track IR arrived this morning, I have just had a quick flight with it and i am here to tell you that it is amazing.A real improvement on the Track IR an its own. This is a must have for all flyers of the taildraggers, being able to lean over and see forward down the runway out of the side window makes taxing and takeoff much easier. It is a very natural feel, where with the Track IR on its own i was always a little consious of keeping my head reasonably still and had a dead zone set up to help in this, I now do not need the deadzone just need to move around in my seat to adjust my view as you would in a real life cockpit.Sit up and lean forward to see over the top of the panel , Lean back to see around a pillar ect.
December 14, 200421 yr Author You got it already!!! Where do you live. I think I am going to run to my mailbox.
December 14, 200421 yr Hello oqvistI am located in the Uk, i was suprised to receive it so soon.I am still playing around with the profile settings but the default works well its nice to get rid of my deadzone settings.I would think that the vector expansion would be a lot easier to get used to than the Track IR alone for people trying it for the first timeas the movement mirrors what you do naturally in the real world.
December 14, 200421 yr Author Edimensional have a UK office so that may explain some. Will check in tomorrow got busy today :)
December 14, 200421 yr This thing is going to make me by CFS 3 as well just because CFS 3 has the entire plane model for the VC.
December 14, 200421 yr Author Yeah though the game itself is not good so unless you already got all IL 2 games and are tired of them...
December 15, 200421 yr Dang! I've been so happy with my TrackIR (the original model) that I hadn't figured on getting the new gadget. Sounds like I better hit Santa up for one after all! Thanks for the minireview!David
December 15, 200421 yr Argh! I just got a Fed-Ex e-mail, it's supposed to be delivered on the 16th, and it shipped from Orlando, FL. I was really hoping to have it tonight...
December 15, 200421 yr Has anyone ever thought or experimented with using this in conjunction with a HMD system? (Head Mount Display, aka virtual reality helmet) Seems to me that between the full peripheral coverage (perceived large screen effect) and the not having to keep your eyes locked to a stationary screen would further enhance the effect. With all the screen technology floating around I

December 18, 200421 yr I wasn't really suggesting of going for the peripheral....just the effect of "looking" left with your head and having the scene change in front of your eyes just as it would in real life. And I didn't even think of 3D .... that
December 18, 200421 yr Author My point was it get very expensive if you want higher res. You may get a better screen but kill the immersion by bad graphics instead.
December 22, 200421 yr well I stand corrected. Being somewhat ncredulous I did a quick search and found that the HMD tech. has not kept up with the display tech. i was assuming that my now someone had incorporated the hi-rez displays found in most portable DVD players. Give it time ....
December 23, 200421 yr Author Believe me I have dreamt about it for years :DBut virtual reality seem pretty much dead really. Guess people still look at it like science fiction.
