I just added Florida to my Illinois and Colorado sceneries.  When I start up FSX, I get error message  Scenery CFG. file missing   scenery area 117 not found.  The Florida file is in same directory as the other two.  What am I doing wrong?  Thanks  S. Sumner

It means you removed/uninstalled a scenery but the uninstaller did not remove the area from the scenery.cfg.  Since it cannot find the scenery that was in Area 117, it will give you an error message.  You can go into the scenery.cfg and renumber the areas or you can get the Scenery Config Editor - http://sourceforge.net/projects/fs-sceditor/ and it will find and tell you what the problem is and ask you if you want the program to fix it.   You should have this utility in any case as it will allow you to disable/enable scenery before you even start up FSX.

Best regards,

Jim

Firehawk44, any other utilities that do similar and don't require Java?  Seems ridiculous to develop a utility for a Windows app and use Java instead of .Net which is already part of all of the currently supported versions of Windows.  Java is a virus magnet.

Java is a virus magnet.

Not sure where you got that info.  Java has come a long way since 1995 and is needed by a lot of apps on the Internet.  It receives regular security updates just like Windows.  A lot of programs are being developed with Java.  The SceneryConfigEditor is such a great tool I would reconsider your decision not to install Java.  It is becoming almost mandatory to have if you own a lot of photoscenery or just scenery addons in general.

Thanks Jim,  Problem solved. Much appreciated.

Thanks Steve.  Glad it works for you.  Happy flying!
