New unit does not recognize controls after putting to sleep

Featured Replies

I have new unit set up with Nick's bible.Win7.It seems to lose recognition of yoke, pedals and t quadrants after putting to sleep. If I unplug them and replug them then they work.Sometimes the quadrants work but axis assignments are wrong til I disconnect and reconnect.Do I have something shut off in preferences somewhere? Thanks for any help.Ron

Hi rpowers,

You didn't mention in your post if your using FSUIPC or not?

I think though I'm no expert that your problem is to do with unplugging your yoke, pedals etc from your system when not in use. When you plug them back in I believe you lose the settings. Something to do with your system not recognising that when you plug the units back in they are the same ones as removed last time.

If you use FSUIPC, then it is possible to assign each piece of hardware a name, so that when you unplug things from your computer and plug them back in again, the settings are remembered.

Anyway, hope this helps and someone more knowledgeable can verify my comments.

Regards.

Yes,I use FSUIPC.I guess I wasn't clear. When I fire up FSX and if the controls don't function or have wrong assignments, then I unplug and reconnect. That usually corrects the problem.I leave them connected all the time. Thanks for the quick reply.

As a follow up I have no problems when rebooting.Only from sleep mode.Is not this the same as "standby"?In sleep mode my power on light keeps blinking. Is this correct? Thanks,Ron

Hi Ron,

Ok well I guess your problem as your trying to describe it, is this. Your restarting your pc from sleep mode but your assignments appear to not be recognised for your rudder, yoke etc, even though you haven't unplugged anything!

I'm afraid I don't know any of the technical language for what your experiencing but it sounds like FSUIPC isn't waking up when your pc does. I guess if your in fsx then you could click on the FSUIPC tab under addon's in the top menu bar and just click the button or axis assignment in FSUIPC and see if that wakes it up. There is probably an answer on Peter Dowsons Forum for FSUIPC he's very helpful. Look at http://forum.simflight.com/forum/30-fsuipc-support-pete-dowson-modules and see if there is any info here too.

Sorry I can't be more help.

Thank you.It  is not just FSUIPC assignments.I have 2 buttons on yoke for TrackIR pause and center functions and they do not work either. The guy who built my computer says that this is sometimes a quirck with Win7 and standby mode.I am going to either let'er run or shut it down when done.

FWIW, I've never been able to successfully use sleep mode on a flight sim machine, and I've run FS on every version of Windows since Win 95.

I'd take the advice of the guy who built your PC.
