Starting from the terminal

Featured Replies

Is there a "simple" way of starting from the terminal using FSBuild flight plans. I am aware of the option of modifying the file in FSBuild, this is a pain in the butt. I recall in an early version of FSUIPC there was an option to start all flight plans from the terminal. This option does not appear in the current version (not one I can see)ThanksAndrew.:-hmmm

In create a flight you can specify in the runway list a gate to start from. The gate selection list can be modified by downloading or creating an appropriate afcad bgl file. There are a number of airline parking specific afcads avasilable for FS9 on the project PAI website or downloadable from libraries here, fligvhtsim, etc., or that come with modified scenery. Many have the parking codes specified. By using AFCAD2.21, you can open up an airport and search for it. It will pull up the stock scenery (no airline parking codes) and one of the advanced downloads if you installed the file and let it index to the scenery. Open up under lists the gates of the advanced layer and find the airline you want. Click on it and it will highlight the location in the airport diagram. Make sure it is the correct size for your aircraft. You can now create a flight, select the gate from the starting point dropdown, and when you load it with fly now the plane will be positioned at that gate. I usually shut down the aircraft with the parking break on, select clear weather theme, season and time of day, and save the flight in that situation. When I wish to fly from there I'm all set to go by loading that saved flight and modifying whatever is needed from the flight menu bar. When using the start dropdown you will also notice a ramp selection for areas without terminals used for cargo, military, etc., if designed into the airport scenery.FS2K2 has similar choices but without any airline codes.

Andrew,I use FSBuild on all flights wtih the PMDG 737NG. When I make a flight plan with FSB it never takes into account the gate at the terminal. Having said that, what I do on each flight is start from a saved flight. For example when I taxi into a gate like KDEN's gate B57 and shut down the plane, I save that flight and make it my default flight. When I start FS9 again, that is where I start right at gate B57. I then do the checklist do a pushback and depending on the winds I taxi to the active runway and takeoff. This a very real and simple way to always know where you are going to start. Hope this helps.Bob
