So I am in the process of adding add-on airports and I was going to get a bunch from FS dreamteam. However each time I try to DL one of the files it sets off my virus protection. Should I just disable it and re download these files or are these in fact not safe files?

They are safe,what's your AV?

You are probably getting false positives.

With MSE (Security Essentials),I'm having no issues.

Norton is notorious for false-flagging flight sim addons. Make sure to disable your Norton temporarily, then download and install the sceneries, and then you can reactivate Norton. FSDT and other major companies in the FS community are top notch in quality control. I would suggest as well Microsoft Security Essentials as Jude suggested. You won't see that issue again.
