VFR Photographic Scenery GenerationX

Featured Replies

Has anyone experience of installing and using this UK scenery with P3D V2.0?

All tips welcomed.

Hi Gerry,

I installed Prepar3d 2 onto the same drive as FSX and then added the Horizon scenery via the Prepar3d scenery library and also the UK2000 airports.Didn't even need to reinstall..

It blew me away...Like a completely new sim and product. It is all clear at 500ft and above with no autogen popping.

I get a solid 30fps in fair weather...If the weather is rough(Lots of dark clouds) then that will drop me to about 15..But look at my specs...What did I expect, I am going to upgrade the graphics card though..

 Hi Gerry

So far I've installed Volumes 5,6,7,8 using a FSX to Prepar3d migration tool ( new version for V2).  The install went ok but I had to manually add the scenery into the scenery library. I've tried a few flights and the scenery looks great with good frame rates.  Only issue appears to be with volume 8 Central Scotland, the inland water is showing as landclass scenery. On Prepar3d V1.4 I had the whole of GenX VFR scenery for Scotland, England and Wales  installed with no problems.

As the inland water texture issue only seems to be effecting Vol 8 it may have been a glitch with the installation and I'll do more work on it.

One good tip is to copy all the files on the DVD's for each Gen X area into one folder on the hard drive i.e. all the files on the Vol 8 DVD's into one folder called Vol 8.  Whilst this takes quite a while if you need to reinstall it is done in minutes without swapping 7 DVD's in and out.

Personally I think the Generation X VFR scenery adds a great deal to the flying experience and some of the views are stunning.
