initial P3D problems or...

Featured Replies

Hi all-

Just installed P3D to see what all the fuss it about. I'm a long time FSX user on a fast machine that has had almost no problems over time, ANYway. got P3D installed and..

...it doesn't recognize my Hotas Thrustmaster throttle although everything in setup is correct and calibrated

...no water animation? I get a massive jerk every 5 seconds over SFO with no visible wave action

...AA is poor compared to FSX with nVidia Inspector

....pausing, and altering anything on the menubar (Setup options, etc.) when unpausing, aircraft goes out of control (using the stock Baron for test purposes)

Hmmmm...is this normal?

Thanks,

Mark

Hotas: did you also set it up in P3D itself? You probably have to assign all axes etc. manually. I had to do that with my Saitek pedals at least.

Water: I heard only the highest settings gives you waves. Haven't checked it myself. I also have the idea the wwater 'texture' is being replaced or whatever quite often.

AA: indeed not as good as FSX but LM is aware of it and in contact with nVidia. (Oddly enough not with AMD...?)

Out of control: probably due to your first point: I had the exact same until I figured out my pedals weren't properly recognized (left pedal was aileron and weird things like that). Things were fine as soon as I set the controlles in P3D itself.

Thanks-I'll look into the controller.

Does nVidia inspector work with P3D?

Not yet, at least as far as I've read.

I made the usual mistake of setting up like I would fsx. This is clearly not fsx. My gpu usage went to 90% and in fsx it starts to stutter. In p3d it was incredibly smooth. My fps jumped when I set to full screen and the smoothness is something I had not experienced before. My saitek setup worked well and I noticed NI was having an effect. Lots more experimenting today.

Afterr 3 days of trials and tribulations. I totally agree with you there Mark. but it shoo is perty but really not that more if any than FSX with FTX and the AA is horrible I suppose that's why LM is trying to get Nvidia to work on it..
