November 27, 201312 yr Guys, I just stopped by to say that I really find, based on what I've been reading, the release of P3D v2 was the best thing that could have happened to the FSX / P3D 1.4 users community. True that my sim, X-Plane 10, is a very good alternative, has a lot to offer, a dynamic and dedicated team, features we do not have in FSX, and many others lacking there too and long making part of FSX's dailly simmer activities, but, honestly, I can only see a remarkable future in P3D v2! It has JUST BEEN RELEASED. Yes there are bugs, tuning required, but I have seen images and read reports of users showing that appart from that, it offers performance and stability for instance in the area of autogen and overall scenery display. I also read that some of the FSX aircraft can be directly installed and run in P3D v2. I am sure that most devs will offer installers for P3Dv2 sooner or latter. I am still using FSX, and even acquired the excellent DX10 Fixer, and am very sattisfied with the results I get with it, but I have an old system, and one that I am sure will most probably not be able to get the most out of P3D V2 DX11 and GPU use. Then, I can't forget what I read about the new "hooks" created on P3D V2's SDKs in order to allow better interaction with external flight and weather ( and other ) dynamic and system models. This oppens a wide range of possibilities. Aircraft like the Majestic Q-400, and even the latest creations by A2A, which use external simulation of systems and / or flight dynamics, will certainly benefit from this optimized SDKs. In the limit I can admit that a user who preffers X-Plane's flight dynamics model but, at the same time, would preffer to run it in P3Dv's sceneries and interacting with P3Dv2's AI and ATC ( native or even addon ) could get it working using P3Dv2 for the visuals and those other components and X-Plane to drive the FDM. I know of at least a well positioned professional flight simulation company considering the use of P3D visuals / World to give life to their simulators. So, all I can say is that you should see the problems you're now facing, probably cooling down too fast the expectations you had before the release, as a transient situation, short time sitution and not the norm for this new simulator. Regarding the 32 bit limitation, yes I am already using a 64 bit simulator, and I am somehow at ease regarding the possibility of flooding my VAS with it, but as I insist, 32 bit is definitelly not all that makes a flight simulator, and if the code is optimized in the way, for instance it deals with scenery, a footprint that looks bigger when you run it with basic scenery and addons will probably not grow that much when you add more scenery areas, airports, complex aircraft, specially if the systems and flight modelling of those aircraft can be done outside of the sim, which is, IMO, a good alternative since we all know that the core FDM in P3DV2 is still the same it inherited from ESP, and the same we have in FSX... Not bad, but old and accepting some fresh air.... Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

Thank you for a well crafted bit of prose and praise. I would however like to take a moment to emphasize that like XP, P3D has a "dynamic and dedicated team" who'll continue to refine the code base and issue (free) incremental slip-streamed updates... November 28, 201312 yr This oppens a wide range of possibilities. I'm not there yet, as being overly positive about X-Plane's flight model. There are certainly some good developers who produce models outside of X-Planes FDM. XP still has that tendency to left roll, which the owner of XP plans straightening out, once and for all. My thoughts, are this, I wouldn't just trade some models that have been produced for FSX (and possibly P3D) for the X-Plane flight model. So there you have it. If someone came to me, and said........."I'll let you run this X-Plane flight model in PD3V2.....but you'll have to give up your FSX type", I wouldn't do it. On the other hand, I'll certainly look forward to well produced models, specifically for X-Plane.
