November 27, 201312 yr hi all, I`ve just installed orbx and rex on fsx acceleration and i`m struggling to get above 20 fps with my current system: [email protected] hd7950 16gb corsair ram orbx and rex installed framerate externally locked to 30fps bojotes tweaks It doesnt seem to make a difference where i`m in the level d 767 or the standard aircraft? could anyone give me any advice? cfg file November 28, 201312 yr Your problem could be due to that Vishera, Try putting FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.15 under [MAIN] in fsx.cfg. The max number is 0.33 so try changes to other lower numbers. November 28, 201312 yr AC_SELF_SHADOW=1 can be an FPS killer, try setting to 0 AI traffic densities of 20 are OK if you use optimized AI models but default AI has pretty bad performance. I get very good results with MTX optimized models. If you're running REX weather engine, try AffinityMask=254, to free core0 up for running REX IMO you have a very good system and don't really need tweaks other than HIGHMEMFIX=1, WideViewAspect=True and then try the above settings. Venetubo seemed like the only tweak that works for me paired with Nvidia inspector. Also setup your affinity mask to use all 8 of your cores... also now. core2 is maxing now and although its utilising the others would a different affinity mask mabe help? just for my peace of mind, should my system be able to run this pretty much flat out? any November 29, 201312 yr No idea about the artefacts dude, have updated the CCC ? Vsync would be for full to windowed mode. What are your autogen settings ? Water keep it at HIGH 1.x and special effects to 0. try it. Try reducing the sliders and try. I could have helped you with the FX series but I still not have received my replacement motherboard. November 29, 201312 yr The Bufferpools tweak causes graphics spikes on some systems, but works fine on others. Try removing that tweak to see if it helps. You could also try using internal framerate lock versus external. Otherwise, smoothness comes from adjusting your display settings (eg. AI traffic, a big FPS hitter) to be balanced with the scenario. The LDS 767 at a top tier airport like Heathrow is quite a stress test and might need lower settings. What I do is use the Save button in the Settings window to save settings that I've adapted to different scenarios, then load up the appropriate settings depending on the flight I'm doing. I'll use much higher display settings and high GA traffic/low Airline traffic for bush flying for example, but lowered display settings and low GA traffic with 20% Airline traffic when flying airliners at big airports. November 29, 201312 yr You shouldn't have big problems to get good performance with your system. Try running your sim once with fps limiter set to unlimited and 30, then compare. I do alse have an AMD system, setting the limiter to 30 reduces stuttering but it costs 5fps.. If your system can handle it, do it. Also it makes a large difference whether bufferpools is set to usepools=0 or Poolsize=0. First one gives me good fps, no artifacts and less chance of getting OOMs. Vsync is important to get rid of screen tearing and provides a little more stable fps. One last thing, I found that an AffinityMask setting of 254 causes the fps to drop after some time. I set mine to 224 (last 3 cores) and performance is stable. I hope this was helpful
November 30, 201312 yr Author Thanks guys. had another play around and its probabilly on average 20fps from heathrow and over london in the level d. still lacks a fair bit of smoothness though. I may post a video to see what you guys think. autogen seems to have a fair fps impact mind
