November 30, 201312 yr I will check for the SimConnect.msi in the P3Dv2 SDK. What do you mean after that? Do I have to re-install Opus ? John Pipilas Win 10 - i7 2600k CPU - AMD Radeon R9 Fury X GPU
November 30, 201312 yr Commercial Member No just install the version of SimConnect that is supplied with P3D. It is supposed to be backward compatible but may be the only interface compatible with P3D Version 2, hence the P3D crashes when trying to interface to the current installed SimConnect. Just an idea. Stephen
November 30, 201312 yr Thanks Stephen...I downloaded the P3v2 SDK and installed their SimConnect.xml. Seems to connect fine now. I am also encountering a minor problem with setting up my external cameras. While in the default VC view, I Open the Opus Server - Camera Control, I select aircraft, select add a new camera and then move the view to the exterior to set my camera position but the airplane is not displayed properly (missing textures)? Any ideas? John Pipilas Win 10 - i7 2600k CPU - AMD Radeon R9 Fury X GPU
November 30, 201312 yr Commercial Member Thanks for the info regarding the SimConnect.xml. If you wish to create an external aircraft view then select the 'view type' radio button in the Camera Control dialog to Aircraft (external) instead of Virtual. VC views sometimes don't include the full body of the aircraft. Cheryl
November 30, 201312 yr I have selected the Aircraft button, but when I pan around to the exterior view from the VC the aircraft is displayed with missing textures? I recall in FSX when I select the Aircraft view it defaulted to an Opus exterior view which displayed the aircraft properly but this is not happening in P3Dv2? November 30, 201312 yr Commercial Member Yes you must enable Live Camera or open the Cameras dialog and let the software update the Camera.CFG and all aircraft.cfg files. Then run P3D so it can load all the camera definitions. Probably be OK if you restart everything. If the FSXSERVER program can access the files OK then you will see the Opus CameraDefinition at the top of the Cameras.CFG file (in the same folder as your Prepar3D.CFG file), and also the Opus CameraDefinitions appended at the end of all your aircraft.cfg files. If these are missing then it will be a sharing and permissions issues. See the Getting Started guide for details. Stephen
November 30, 201312 yr Commercial Member Some further info from our FAQ regarding missing aircraft textures - skeleton view ... Basically the skeleton aircraft results from positioning the eye point for an external view but with a cockpit (VC) view selected on the display. We cannot actually determine what view is displayed, the software is forced to just select 2D then count in steps from there. For correct operation your views should cycle (S key) between, VC - Spot - Tower - Aircraft - External You should also make sure you have not hidden any of these views by setting their CycleHidden field to Yes. For correct operation each of these view types must be set as CycleHidden=No in the aircraft.cfg files. Cheryl
November 30, 201312 yr Hi Cheryl, when I cycle through the views with S key I am not getting an external view? I don't see a CycleHidden line in any of the aircraft.cfg files. What I do have at the bottom of all my aircraft.cfg files is this line: [CameraDefinition.899] Title="OpusFSX Aircraft View" etc.. No CycleHidden line. Also there is no Opus CameraDefinition line found in my camera.cfg file. John Pipilas Win 10 - i7 2600k CPU - AMD Radeon R9 Fury X GPU

You most likely do not have the CameraDefinition inserted at the beginning of your Camera.CFG file, see explanation above. Stephen
November 30, 201312 yr Ok I copied/pasted my FSX camera.cfg and my OpusFSX External View works in P3Dv2. Thanks a lot for the great support. I think I royally highjacked this thread so my apologies to the OP as well. Cheers John Pipilas Win 10 - i7 2600k CPU - AMD Radeon R9 Fury X GPU
