Am I wasting my time with GTX 570?

Featured Replies

I wonder if I am wasting my time trying to use my GTX570HD which has only got 1.280mb ram.

Most of you guys here have high end cards and so there is  no point my applying your settings.

Also when using Steves DX10 Fixer at Ksea I find that the taxiways and apron shimmer badly while the runways are OK. I wonder why.

Could some kind person please lead me in the right direction as to settings in NI and my fsx.cfg that I may try.

I hope to upgrade my card to a GTX 770 in January.

I have the same card (although I'm adding a GTX780Ti next week) and do not see the shimmering at KSEA.  Maybe you can share some of your settings within FSX?

Some arbitrary level of SGSS is the tool to stop shimmering, Richard.

No, I have the same card and it has never come close to running out of RAM.

If you download and use Sysinternals Process Explorer you will be able to monitor your

usage and see for yourself.

Example, Dx10, New York, FTX Global autogen, all FSX sliders to the right (except water @2 low), LOD radius 9.0, FSX in full screen window.

(Although you can't see it behind the screen, aircraft engines on fire as I am not paying attention to it  )

Unless you have another reason to change, I would keep your card and look to your settings, as advised above.

Regards,

Nick.

I have it too... and it is great! look at my rig.

If you want, I can send you pics of my sim, and it is working great.
