December 19, 200421 yr Is it possible to use 2 "traffic.bgl's"? I want to use my own Traffic030528.bgl, but I want to add another friends Traffic030528.bgl. Is that possible? Thanks.

Thanks. You didn't specify which version of FS you are running. If FS2002, the answer is no.If FS2004 (FS9 - CoF), the answer is you can have as many as you like, provided they are NOT (a) duplicate names and (:( duplicate files. It would make no sense to have two .bgl files with identical flightplans. December 19, 200421 yr I have at least twelve traffic bgl files - two for UT (for for Europe/USA using only painted AC, one for the rest of the world using the default ac for those w/o paints), one each for FedEX and UPS, the IWI series adds four more, two for Misty Moorings (GA and AI ships), one for Glacier Bay add on, and one for all other GA traffic.Long as they have different names and don't overlap flight plans there should not be a problem.Joe Lorenc Joe Lorenc
December 19, 200421 yr Thanks for the info. Yes, I am using FS2004. Do you mean both have to be named the same "Traffic030528.bgl"?------------------------------------------You didn't specify which version of FS you are running. December 19, 200421 yr Im reading this with interest because I have the same questions in mind!I want to add freeware USA traffic, I downloaded the same authors European traffic and of course both have the same Traffic030528.bgl file name. If one is renamed I guess you have to alter the references to it elsewhere?:)
December 19, 200421 yr You can't have two files with the same name in the same folder :) You need to rename one to .bglMake sure the two files do not contain the same flightplanes otherwise you get duplicate flights. -
December 19, 200421 yr Moderator >Thanks for the info. Yes, I am using FS2004. Do you mean>both have to be named the same "Traffic030528.bgl"?Because my reply had "plain text" selected, the entire word NOT (in bold letters) was "deleted" by the forum software. I've re-edited the message to fix that ommission. It is impossible for any file to have an identical filename when it is the same folder as another... :)You may rename any .bgl file to use a more intelligible name, such as traffic_GA.bgl, traffic_A320.bgl or even traffic_my.bgl... The only important "letters" in the name are "traffic_" and ".bgl" Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
December 19, 200421 yr <<<< Make sure the two files do not contain the same flightplanesotherwise you get duplicate flights.>>>Would that be an easy way to get more AI planes to appear? (cloning a particular .bgl and giving it different names)The slider for traffic is on 100% and yet I get like 10 planes at busy airports like Heathrow :(

December 19, 200421 yr I have 1113 traffic BGL files installed, so yes, that's very possible.Download Traffic Tools by Lee Swordy (available in the AVSIM library), find the necessary flightplans & compile it into a new traffic file. If you are unsure on how to, be sure to read the documentation that comes with TTools. As an alternative, you could also use the installer from MRAI (www.mostrealisticai.com), which will do it automatically for you.
December 20, 200421 yr Did you put all of those bgl files in the same folder as the Traffic030528.bgl file?I have 1113 traffic BGL files installed, so yes, that's verypossible.
December 20, 200421 yr You put ALL your traffic.bgl's into the same folder. The key thing here is that you don't appear to have any add-on AI planes, and seem to be expecting full airports using only the default MS supplied AI aircraft. What I suggest is that you go to www.projectai.com and download a few of the AI airlines packages, and the installer program, and then install these packages into FS9.You'll then see a 'traffic.bgl' alongside the default one. Fire up the sim and go to a large airport and look for the new AI aircraft, ie; install the British Airways package, and then start a flight from Heathrow. You'll be a bunch of British Airways AI parked and taxiing! You'll also still see the generic MS AI planes, which will look a bit poor and out of place!! If you don't want to continue seeing the Soar and Landmark AI, then you can either delete, or rename the orinal traffic 'Traffic030528.bgl' file. If you rename it, you must just rename the .bgl part to something like .lgb (If you just change the name of the traffic file and not the .bgl extension, then you'll still get the default traffic!)Once you've seen how this all works, go back to ProjectAI and download as many of the packages as you want and install them...you'll have airports all over the world, full of airports with the correct airlines, and all flying pretty good, close aproximations of real-world flight plans.Hope this helps ;)
