December 3, 201312 yr No differences. Just that the academic has a small watermark in the top right corner of the screen. Apart from that, they are identical in feature and function.

Since I am constantly jumping between X-Plane 10, FSX DX10-fixed and in the future P3Dv2 ( waiting for the first update to be released before re-installing ), I decided to go for the monthly subscription.
