December 14, 201312 yr If you are arriving at an airport with no flightplan lodged, ie just flying around, how does Voxatc allow you to contact an airport of your choice or do you need to lodge a flight plan for it to work properly? Many thanks John
December 18, 201312 yr I think you need a flight plan loaded. I tried last night with the a2a c 172 I just purchased and got an no atc error. Tonight I may try creating a Vfr flight to a near by airport just to play in the pattern and see if that works. Sent from my iPhone
December 19, 201312 yr Author Thanks dajackman2. Would appreciate if you could let me know the difference with a flight plan. John
December 19, 201312 yr Heres how I do it while flying go to the Fsx menu flights/flight planner. Enter where you departed and NOW enter the field you have decided to go to. click OK and then click SAVE but DONT let the planner take you to the dept field, just press no. this takes about 10 seconds to do and provides vox atc with an altitude and your new destination. Yes its a flight plan but created as an improvisation on the fly There is now other way ATC can guide you in without the above info ZORAN
December 19, 201312 yr The flightplan must exist already, before the airplane containing the Vox window is loaded. So, adding a flightplan to a current Vox flight probably isn't possible (just my own limited experience). If Vox can't find an active flightplan, it should switch from 'IFR' to 'VFR' mode, offering you the menu options for VFR flight following, contacting nearest tower etc. If you get an error message, you may want to disable Vox and enable it again for a second try. Sometimes the Vox engine manages to sort these problems out all by itself on the 2nd attempt. What happened to AVSIM
December 19, 201312 yr Indeed you are correct. I was going off memory and I was sure I did that once but just tested it and the same result NO UNIT ZORAN
December 19, 201312 yr Author Olli4740 I just keep getting "no ATC", even after I have disabled Vox a number of times. I have never seen the VFR flight following options of contacting nearest tower etc. I think maybe I am missing something. I have even tuned in the tower at the closest airport with no result. Do I have to to anything to switch to VFR mode? Can you think of anything else? Thanks.
December 20, 201312 yr I'll have to reproduce the situation I had in mind, I reckon ... For a temporary workaround, what happens if, on arrival, you create a flightplan to your intended destination, save it, resume your flight, and start Vox after that? What happened to AVSIM
