FSD's Piaggio Engine Start Up Bug

Featured Replies

I am not able for some reason to access fsd's site from home, so apologies for this, but does someone have the solution to the engine start-up bug? I was in my office today reading fsd's forum, and quite a lot of folks seem to have problems getting the engines to start, even after following the checklists to the letter. I'm having the same problems:1)Turning the battery switch on produces a "0" volt reading (even after enabling max battery life in fsuipc.2) Engines spool up and stabilize for a couple of seconds, then shut down. Could someone post the fix here, as, as I've said above, I can't access fsd's webpages. Ricardo

Hi there,I have had the same issue and I think it is due to a bug in the number of engine hours run.I got it to work by running up Load Manager, then clicking on the Maintenance & Operation section labelled Status/Repair then clicking the Options button. If you notice the amount of hours, it will be an astronomical value compared to the hours you have actually flown. Look at the bit marked Scheduled Maintenance and notice that is says Maintenance Due. Check both the white boxes, then the O.K. button. Back on the main screen it will now say Hours to next service is 25. Click Save, reload your Avanti and away you go.You may well need to do this on a regulaer basis until they issue a fix.regards,Damunn.

Same here. I still can't get into the FSD forums several days after registering.I see the engine hours incrementing at a rate of about an hour per second of actual flight. A short flight from Fairbanks to Anchorage put over 3600 hrs on both engines after being reset to 0 before the flight. The FSD reply to my e-mail was something to the effect that nobody else is reporting this problem, but they'd look into it. So maybe it'd be a good idea for others to send them a note if you're having the same problem. Also, I'm wondering a bit about the FDE...Steve Small normally does pretty good work, but this flight model will push up against Vne in level flight near max gross weight with the power way back at 890 ft-lbs (~40%) torque at 10000-12000 ft MSL. Descents prior to configuration don't look right, either...at idle power the plane will barely muster a 1000 fpm descent at close to redline. The pitch changes with flaps were pretty aggressive and large...the autopilot was not able to hold the G/S when I set final flaps on two consecutive approaches. All things that make me go "hmmmmmm."This is my first experience with FSD, so I have no idea what to expect in terms of customer support. The response to my first support request was timely, but of course the real measure will be in how the problems are dealt with.Bob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Washington, DC

Yeah, these must be some finicky Italian truffle engines, because after 5 minutes of flight, I'm due for an engine overhaul.Bob, I also experience the other problems you describe + (at least on my end), I can barely control taxi speed. An incremental increase in thrust -and the plane takes off as if it were chased by the devil.ricardo

I am getting the same issues as you guys.Since both of you can't post this stuff over there, I'll post links to this thread and the other thread over here on their forums for you. I hope you guys don't mind!

We will be addressing some issues today and issuing a Service Release within the next 48 hours. There are a couple issues we know need to be addressed, and many reported are simply problems not following the checklists to the letter (it is unforgiving in the highest realism level). A brand new aircraft, with complex systems is sometimes hard to get used to.You will find much more comprehensive and up-to-date information on our support forum at our web site. New forum registrations need to be processed manually. So if you tried to register yesterday and could not get in it is likely due to the fact that we were taking a little time to enjoy Christmas with our families. If you registered according to the published guidelines and do not use a public/anonomous e-mail address (like Yahoo or Hotmail) your forum account should be good to go.Keep the blue on top!http://www.fsd-international.com/team/TD_forum_sig.gif

Tim; I can't seem to find those published guidelines about yahoo/hotmail...where are they posted?RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Washington, DC

I have isolated the problem to a timing issue that crept in at the end of the development cycle. This is impacting a number of systems, including engine time recorder and fuel delivery system. The problem has been corrected and a Service Release will be issued within the next 24 hours.Sorry for the inconvenience.(-:http://www.fsd-international.com/team/TD_forum_sig.gif
