December 18, 201312 yr they are based out of a VFR only field and the weather goes to crap? do they: 1. just shut down for the day(s)? or 2. fly to a different close by airport that has say an ILS available? or 3. something different that I didn't think of? anyone know? Thanks Brian S Ciao!
December 18, 201312 yr Just shut down for the day. This happens all the time with VFR flights from Queenstown to Milford Sound in my country. Their is a lot of money to be made in those operations but if it is not VFR conditions they can't fly in or out of Milford Sound. Sometimes they can go 10 to 20 days and not be able to fly due to poor conditions. Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
December 18, 201312 yr Author That is what I kind of thought.. for a VA then, it would be better to be based out of an airport with an ILS, so that when the VFR flights go down the IFR charters can still continue.. Ciao!
December 18, 201312 yr In Queenstown when the cannot fly into Milford Sound, They can at least offer local sight seeing flights but that is not really a big revenue generator for them, but at least it is something. Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
