Some questions regarding Bluesphere

Featured Replies

I have downloaded and installed the fs9enov4 bluesphere textures. Do these textures cover the whole earth? After starting FS9 I didn't get a window telling me the new scenery was created and updated. I usually get this after installing new scenery. I don't find any folder called Bluesphere. Can I be certainI now have this Bluesphere textures. (I tested at SAVE in Sweden)These textures has been describes as the best available (even better than FScene). I don't think there is asignificant improvement. I can see snow covered areas, but still rather repetive. Can someone point out where the difference are clearly visible? I have the Europe fall FScene textures. Here I see significant improvement. In the doc for bluesphere it's stated that the project was done because the world look dark from high altitude. Is this what the textures does making the worls brighter from high altitude? I flew at rather low altitude when I checked the textures.

bluesphere textures replace default world textures, so thereis no need to activate any scenery - they are just textures. The difference is that they look more blueish as compared to default - so only the hue has been changed - nothing elseregards

>The difference is that they look more blueish as compared to>default - so only the hue has been changed - nothing else>>regardsMuch more to it than that. For me, just the replacement of the terrible default low cloud "puddles" by much more realistic haze and light cloud makes it worth the installation.http://members.chello.nl/g.kranenbarg/gwkh...MTN17Screen.jpg

Hello, "These textures has been describes as the best available (even better than FScene). I don't think there is asignificant improvement."Confusing statement comparing apple with candy. There is nothing new in these texture blueshpere texture, all ground texture are EXACT and same as default fs2004, the ONLY difference is that they look little more blueish, nothing more!If users don't like default fs2004 ground texture, don't download these, all lack of default texture fs2004 will still here, poor desert, poor forest, poor rock texture, mount texture are all basic.-Lennart all texture are totally new, with landclass, autogen and costbeach texture.-FSCENE, all texture are totally new.For the default low cloud "puddles" more realistic haze, you don't need to download all ground texture files, they are available in single zip, but I use now fs sky world 2004 with the blueish haze.BestEric

I have now installed Lennarts textures. If I understand things correctly this means that the bluesphere textures was overwritten and I know have Lennarts textures. IfI were to purchase FScene winter and install it then Lennarts textures would be overwritten with the FScene textures. Or is it more complicated?

At the risk of getting you really confused! No, that may not be the case. Lennarts tetures are not, yes NOT, a complete texture set - yet. Lennarts overwrite what is in the Texture folder, but that does not mean that ALL files are overwritten. So installing those textures over the top of the Bluesphere textures leaves you with a mix of Bluesphere and Lennarts. Probably. As would installing over the top of FS Scene textures, which are closer (but still NOT) a complete texture replacement. Unless someone does a file comparison there is NO WAY of knowing which files are overwritten and whether you can replace Lennarts by Ruuds just by installing one over the top of the other. My guess is that Ruuds would replace Lennarts, but Lennarts would not replace all of Ruuds (or Bluesphere). But I don't know and can't be bothered to check! The only way to be sure you have JUST Lennarts work is to replace the ORIGINAL FS Texture folder, then install just the Arvidsson textures. Of course, tis would also mean losing any other textures in that folder that may have been replaced by other utilities - FS Sky World, water, raindrops for example. So proceed with care! Allcott

If you restore the original texture folder from the CD's you get back to square one, yes. Remember to copy that folder before you do anything to it, so you have a pristine texture folder, just in case! I think that Lennarts and FScene work together quite well, but FScene have more extensive coverage to if you want to try a merge it is probably best to put in FScene first, then Lennarts. Ditto Bluesphere first, then Lennarts. Allcott

Let me throw in my few cents also..I would not recommend to combine BlueSphere together with another textureset. Because besides the blue

As far as I understand both FScene and Lennarts textures replaces (overwrites) the default ground textures in the texture folder. But of course I should be able to have the Europe fall textures (I have) and conbine with Lennarts winter textures (which I tried to install).BTW what is the difference between winter and hard winter?>FScene have more extensive coverage to if you want to try aWhat coverage have Lennarts? Also am I correct in assuming that at present onle northern europe is covered?
