Hi all

I'm buying a new pc and am deciding whether to opt for a seperate PCI sound card. Onboard sound seems pretty good. What is the benefit of an additional card?

With an additional sound card, FSX can send voice coms to one sound device (your headset), and aircraft sounds to another (your speakers).

You can do this with a USB headset with no soundcard,

Excellent point.  There really is no great benefit having a sound card for FSX unless you are really super picky about audio quality.

BTW I've been spoiled by a really good sound card, so for me there is no going back on onboard sound (well maybe on a really high end mobo).  Even with my current mobo, I could hear what it lacked so I got a pci to pci-e adapter for my 6 years old X-Fi sound card.  But then again, it was stuff besides FSX which drove me to this.
