Squawkbox not injecting traffic

I'm having trouble getting squawkbox to work correctly with p3d2. I used it without any problems in the version 1.4, but I cannot get it to work now.

I start the simulator, then squawkbox and connect to vatsim. Everything seems to work well, and squawkbox interfaces nicely with the radio in the majestic dash8. However, it is unable to inject any traffic. No traffic shows up in the simulator or in the traffic display in Aivlasoft EFB (which is newly released for p3d2). I have tried running both a Vanilla version, and with the migration tool active, and nothing works. I did not need to use the migration tool before in version 1.4.

I do not want to try to launch the simulator with a renamed executable (to fsx.exe) since this has always caused me lots of trouble and instabilities before with version 1.4. As anyone had time to have any experience with this?

All I have been able to find online are references to fsinn, but these solutions require the migration tool to be active and launched in what is called "compatibility mode". I'm not exactly sure what this means in this context, but I feel pretty sure it is something that I do not want to do :-).

The best solution would be to get Squawkbox working, but any and all suggestions are always welcome.

That is a good point.

My problem was that I was missing the squawkbox and VIP folders in SimObjects\Airplanes. This could be solved by simply copying the files to the correct place if I have them somewhere else, but my solution was to reinstall squawkbox with the migration tool active. This led the installer to believe that my p3d2 installation was actually an FSX installation so that it placed the files in the correct folders.

With this approach is not need any special legacy mode or leave the migration tool active when flying. I can run using the regular p3d2 installation without any weird stuff :-)
