So I just purchased x plane the other day and there is a question I have been pondering. I understand the plausible world concept that XP has and that by default there are no custom landmarks/buildings. My question is, are skylines done randomly every time the sim fires up? For example, I'm flying over Chicago, if I where to close the game and then start up again and fly over Chicago, would it be the same skyline? Or would it be a different one?

The same, I believe, because it probably searches is database of objects that are compatible with a given spot and picks one in a non-random way ( sequentially? )

There must be some sort of seed though, so that successive types can alternate?

Well, ok, I give up :-(   How is it done?

BTW: Good Question!!!!

P.S.: Shhhh - I want a Majestic Q400 for X-Plane.... ( tell this to no one!!!! )

No. It wouldn't make sense to add a random element into it. There is a fixed algorithm that tries to determine sensible buildings based on roads and landclasses. So if there is no change in these elements you will always get the same elements. But if the landclasses or roads changes (for example you installed one of the HD Meshes).
