I'm currently reading a book titled, Fate is the Hunter, by Ernest Gann. It is a memoir of his, from his early days of flying DC-2s in the 30s, to flying in the war, then postwar till the 50s. It shows what air transportation was like in the beginning, very interesting stories. Im about halfway through, just got done with a chapter on him and his captain dealing with severe icing, he did an amazing job of telling the story, as he does all the others in the book. Anyway, I just thought some might enjoy it, with the upcoming DC-6 being from a similar era. And also I think anyone who likes aviation, history, and a good read will enjoy this!

Great post. Idk how people can expect all that for the base game. I'm thrilled and excited at what dovetail is doing. And all I want is them to create a stable platform with good physics, lighting, and atmosphere, that will give the 3rd party developers the ability to deliver add ons with features that were not possible in FSX/P3d

There is actually is a golf course out here on the island. Havnt had a chance to play it yet, but I plan on getting in at least one round before I leave

I agree with the OP, I always felt that the MSFS family has done a terrible job with altitude perception. XP10 does a great job on the other hand, especially when you have a heavy cloud layer and see some ground poking though, you really feel high up. The new DCS Edge does a great job too

those are beautiful screenshots!!! Outerra is truly a beautiful simulator! my dream is that one day there will be a simulator with visuals like outerra, night lighting like XP10, flight dynamics of DCS and addons and world coverage like FSX/P3D. One day im sure!

Nice screens. With the introduction of EDGE, i think DCS is the best looking flight simulator out there, by a pretty nice margin. The atmospheric effects, morning and evening, the shadows, simply beautiful. I cannot wait for the NTTR map to get released, because that along with EDGE....it shall be a sight to behold im sure. I cant wait to take my MiG-21 up over it and do some exploring

Thanks for the video. A little disappointing because I don't think it will give the functions I was looking for. The FSX/P3D view system is so outdated I feel. We shouldn't have to buy a 3rd party add on for functions that are considered pretty standard these days. I'm sure this avatar mode will be good for teaching students how to pre flight and such!

A question for those that have tried this in the beta. I see that v3 will have a avatar mode, i take this to mean a FPS type of mode. Where you can walk around the aircraft and such. My question is, does this mean that in the VC we will have an EZDOK type of experience, where we can translate fore/aft, left/right, up/down? Thanks!

Just wondering if anyone has a complete/partial list of KLMs customer options on their 773ERs?

You can go into the PMDG options and change the display refresh rate, but i have found that even with it maxed out you will not get displays as smooth as in real life. I think they are pretty smooth in the sim however, but if you want to nitpick, i guess it could always be smoother
