Strange frame rate issue

Featured Replies

Hello and a happy new year

I hope someone can help me with something I have noticed ,I have come across a strange issue regarding frame rates/ smoothness with my set up, When I first load up the sim and peform my first take off at Gatwick (UK2000) all is fine and i have a nice smooth take off, If I then press esc and do it again the frame rate drops by nearly half and its very jerky. If I then quit the sim completely and restart then its all fine again. I have tried reducing sliders and this makes no real difference, the only way I can get it to run fine again is by restarting the sim completely

Could it have something to do with the amount of entries in my scenery config? ( i have 6 airports plus FTX global, all airports are above FTX). Also is there any advantage in only having the ones I am flying between ticked?.

I know my system is not very fast so i try and do everything I can to keep it running smoothly

I'm pretty sure the way FSX works that the scenery will stay loaded in the memory.not sure that would cause your problem.

i use Uk2000 gatwick and haven't seen that problem.looking at your system could be your cpu and vid card are a bit underpowered for uk2000 stuff.

maybe just do touch and goes, that way you don't have to reload  the sim.

I have noticed this problem too and I think it is normal. It happens when the same airport scenery is loaded up for a second or third time and then it becomes jerky like that. I have had it at KLAX too. Just try yourself and see if we have the same problem. Load up the airport, fly away from it then come back and land. See if it's jerky, and if not, try again. As Steve said, might have something to do with the airport scenery staying loaded in the memory.

This issue shouldn't really bother anyone because you rarely come back to the same airport as you departed from and it doesn't even happen at all airports either.

I have had all kinds of anomalies when exiting a flight and then loading the same flight or any other, so I just make a habit now of always exiting FSX completely after any flight/flight situation.

Thanks guys for your replies, Never noticed it before and was just experimenting with repeated take offs since installing FTX global, seems to be worse with Gatwick as don't have any issues with UK2000 Luton or Edinburgh but i do know its more taxing on my system

Am looking forward to getting me new pc in March
