Looks like Prosim has stepped into the A320 cockpit software suite now also.

Hello everybody,

I’m very happy to finally be able to give you an update on what we’re doing. We kind of surprised everybody by appearing with our all new ProSimA320 at the FS Weekend two days ago, a project that we have been working on in secrecy for quite a while. Same proved architecture and modularity, different aircraft. A lot of people have been waiting for a serious A320 solution for many years, so far feedback was overwhelming!

Timelines for now are a first release in Q1 2016 and a feature complete release in summer 2016. Pricing is not decided yet but will sure be higher than ProSim737 and in line with the other (paid) A320 solutions out there. As soon as we can we’ll come up with a free of charge evaluation version as we do with the 737.

We’ve noticed some concerns from current 737 users, understandable and most probably since we haven’t communicated too much.... Yes, the A320 is coming and we believe it's a good thing for everybody. Here's why:

Mostly because of the level of detail in the A320 ECAM displays, this aircraft requires a whole new level of realism in systems simulation. The models that were built for this aircraft have been made as independent standalone software components, which will be moved into the 737 wherever possible.

For example, a new cabin air circulation model was built that takes into account the heat generated by passengers, the flow of air between compartments and the heat transfer through the skin of the aircraft and between metal components and air inside the cabin. This is a generic model that will also be ported into the 737, allowing a new degree of realism. For those of you not really into this kind of detail, a new LNAV rendering model is being developed which will first makes it into the A320, but which will be ready to use in the 737. Packs are simulated down to adiabatic and friction heat processes of the compressors and turbines, eventually allowing more interesting failures. A better current flow model for the electrical system was developed, which was already placed into the 737 a couple of months ago. A new configuration screen is being tested for the A320 which will be ready to go into the 737 as well.

We don't consider the 737 project closed at all. There's a lot more coming, but with two aircraft, we can share a lot of common components, while serving more cockpit builders. Unfortunately, the initial startup of such a big project always causes a slowdown of the development of the existing product which you may have noticed in the last few month, but eventually we will catch up.

In the end, the development of the A320 will lead to a better set of aircraft components that will also improve the 737. At least as important, with our new offering we’re well on our way of becoming the standard software in this market. It allows us to enter new markets, to start new cooperations, and it ensures us of future revenue to keep our R&D and support going.

Last but not least: X-Plane compatibility for the 737 and upcoming A320. There are a number of people who beg us to go forward with this, we multiple times promised to, we multiple times stranded... Utopia for us would be to be platform independent, leave the choice up to the end user and not be part of the almost religious “what is the simulator of the future” discussion. Facts are that a number of people want this, that we do have technical difficulties, that we doubt the business potential, but also that I saw Marty and Philip Muenzel talking last Sunday. I hope we can achieve compatibility, but for now focus is on getting the A320 released.

Best regards, Hanne

I welcome competition in the market - well variety I would say because when FMGS is free there really is no competition.

I think Prosim will be targeting professional / commercial installations. They can even simulate fuse failures.

I'll be looking out to trailing out their software in March when it releases.

A320X by FlightSimLab is making progress as well and it looks like they will be releasing a cockpit builders version after their FSX/P3D release.

So exciting times for builders :)

Since my last most many months ago, now have interfaced a real A320 throttle to Jeehell FMGS.
