January 19, 201412 yr Tonight I accidentally let my speed climb while coming in for a landing.. Gear was down, but I got the damage for too much speed with it down. My Question is.. Repair's are cheaper at my home base correct? Should I attempt to fly home to repair (to save cash)? Or would I be setting myself up for a worse tragedy and should just pay my punishment at the field I'm currently on?
January 19, 201412 yr Depending on the plane and the distance you need to fly to get back to base, it may be a slow trip (as the gear will be 'stuck' in the lowered position for the entire flight). Even then, I'm not sure those 'failure' repairs are not a set price regardless of where the repair takes place. I've a feeling it may only be the cumulative wear and tear repairs that you can do cheaper at your own base. You cold try asking this at the AH forum over at Just Flight - might get a quicker and more authoritative answer.
January 19, 201412 yr Author I was thinking the gear would be stuck down.. Think when my flaps got damaged, the next flight they were stuck down.. I landed and repaired immediately that time. I guess I'll just suck it up and repair it. lol, guess I"m just impatient, want to buy another plane quickly! I don't have an ID at AH Forum.. I have too many 'new' ID's.. don't need to create more! Over the Xmas season, I got around 13 more IDs.. mostly Stores from the sales.. and Spotify.. here and FSX.. One of the stores was JustFlight, can you use that ID to log on their Forum, or do you have to create a new one?
January 19, 201412 yr I'm a moderator over at JF. Just register like you do with any forum, and Slopey or one of the lads will be sure to offer advice.
January 19, 201412 yr Author I was just wondering if I had to create a 'new' id for the forum.. or is the one that you used to 'purchase' functional in the forum.. Anyways.. I flew the airplane back to the base (had to fly with the gear down as we though).. 3616 before flying home, 2531 at home.. Funny thing is Aircraft condition repair went from 1,446 to 1,012... So it was worth the flight to Home Sweet Home..
January 19, 201412 yr Good that you made the right decision re: flying back to base to repair. I think the AH forum registration is different from a JF account, but I would recommend signing up to AH - particularly when you are getting up and running and encountering problems for the first time.
January 20, 201412 yr Yes. it's a different registration, but no issue, just register and log on as you do with any forum you join.
