January 21, 201412 yr Hey, I have been playing around a lot with the settings in ASN... When I am in the terminal areas, my frames drop as low as 19 sometimes 15. With Active Sky 2012, and same texture set, I was getting upwards of 40 frames consistently considering the beast of a machine I've got. What gives do you think? Any ideas as for what to set to fix this issues in Active Sky NEXT? I tried reinstalling REX textures with DXT and no improvements. Kind of dissapointed in this because i love how ASN renders the clouds.
January 21, 201412 yr Moderator I use the default settings and get 30fps pretty much in FSX. I have GEX, UTX, AS2012 clouds and I run TrackIR. You might want to reduce the cloud layers and see if that helps. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
January 22, 201412 yr Author If I reduce cloud layers, what will happen to the clouds? Also - what is the "enhance overcast conditions" ? how does it affect performance? Thanks!
January 22, 201412 yr Moderator Enhance adds depth to the overcast with a slight performance hit. The clouds will not be as dense with reduced layers BUT this is a visual effect and some people don't notice it at all. Just like some will increase cloud layers and not really "see" a big difference. Try some different settings - if you still have a big FPS hit, open a support ticket. January 25, 201412 yr seems like definitely something amiss, ASN runs pretty much the same for me as AS2012 in terms of fps. i'm mostly using default settings although i increased the cloud layers to 6 actually cheers -andy crosby
January 25, 201412 yr Commercial Member 5 cloud layers are optimum. ASN controls the cloud layer heights instead of FSX so you don't need 10 layers of clouds anymore. Regards, Dave Opper HiFi Support Manager
