Default AI traffic

Featured Replies

Hi,I've in the last few days successfully installed MRAI and PAI flight plans and populated my skies with some good airline packages. HAving said that, is ther a way I can remove the default FS 9 commmercial airline traffic? I don't to see or hear SOAR, WORLD TRAVEL and LANDMARK anymore....Haha! but I'd like to keep the regional and GA traffic...possible?Cheers,-Pranav

Yes delete or better yet rename the original traffic.bgl file traffic.old. I think the correct name is traffic030528.bgl and its in the main sceneryworldscenery folderBill

You really are getting into this aren't you?AI Traffic is held in the FS9/Scenery/World/Scenery directory as .bgl files.Find and backup the default .bgl file (not the end of the world if you lose it as it's on the FS CD's)I know that MRAI creates a new bgl for every airline, but I'm not sure how the PAI installer works. You need to get Traffic Tools from the library. That will allow you to decompile the default bgl into 3 .txt files - Aircraft, Flightplans and Airports.Open the Aircraft file with Notepad and you will see the default GA aircraft at the top of the list.Scroll down until you see the GA airliners begin. Note the AC# number for the first airliner. If you have added new airlines to the default package, you need to be careful whether you have added them to the default .bgl or created new .bgl's.Go to the bottom of the list and check whether any of the airliners you have added appear there. If so, note the AC# for the first of your planes.Close the Aircraft file and open the Flightplan files, again with Notepad. This is in AC# number order. Scroll down past the GA aircraft until you see the AC# number for the first of default FS airliners. Delete all of the flightplans below that, either to the bottom of the file or to the first of the airliners you added. Save the file.Use Traffic Tools to re-compile the 3 text files into a modified .bgl file, and that's it, all the default airliners are gone.Alternatively, have a look at something like this: default_ga_flightplans_v2.zip in the Avsim library. You could use that to replace the default BGL file altogether. But you will still need Traffic Tools, it's not hard to use.

Search for "split traffic" files in the Avsim library. There is a GA and a Commercial traffic portion of the original FS traffic.bgl file.As the other posts indicate, rename the traffic file you do not want and add in the one you do want. (FS2004 only!)
