In flight texture update hangs

Featured Replies

Hello my first post to this forum. I am new to FSX, having ran FS9 for 10 years. So I invested in the equipment and some software and gave it  a go. So far not happy. The sim often updates itself with terrain, aircraft, boats etc and often hangs during this operation. This can happen on the ground before departure or in flight. Sometimes it happens after checking the menu, or like today, not, just approaching cruise altitude. I then do a restart to try again. I have read many similar stories here but they just add to the confusion. I have tried the uiautomationcoredll. Makes no difference. Updated every driver there is . Added the HIGHMEMFIX and Affinity to the FSX cfg.

PC is i5 2500k@ 4.6 and GTX560TI.

Thanks in advance

John

Have you read the AVSIM CTD Guide (see the pinned topic at the top of this forum)?  What crash are you seeing?  If fsx is constantly updating (I call it reloading), then you must have fsuipc and you have the synchronize times checked.  Uncheck it and go fly.  If it crashes again, tell us where in the loading process (i.e., 40%, 72% 80%?).

Thanks for the info. I looked at the problem of clock updating. I don't have the full FSUIPC, however , I was running FS Realtime. I stopped that and today two European legs in the AirbusX worked perfectly. Unfortunately a third trip in the USA led to an ATC.dll CTD. I looked into your explanation of the potential causes, namely memory. Mine is 8MB @1333MHz but was showing up in CPUz as 800. So went back into the BIOS and sorted it. We will get there in the end.

Many thanks

John

Yes, I forget to mention that program too.

Sounds like you doing a good job troubleshooting.  There is not much else you can do when you get FSX crashes to find the cause.  Hopefully the AVSIM CTD Guide will provide some directions.
