January 24, 201412 yr Is it possible to have the copilot both read and execute checklist at once? Thanks! Gary, CIMEL, retired FAA Controller & all around good guy!
January 24, 201412 yr Hello Gary, I have known the MCE co pilot execute checklists as "Read and Do". Usually the MCE co pilot "knows" the position of the flight deck switches. For example, if the checklist item he/she is reading states " battery switches on" and they are in the off position, co pilot will warn you (Captain) that the switch is off and inform you what the checklist states. If he/she does not alter the switch to what the checklist states. You then ask for the switch to be on and co pilot executes it. However, as per real world procedure, the checklist should always follow the script/flow. During the script/flow the co pilot will execute all the script commands in proper order. If "verbose" is selected, then co pilot will read back what he/she is doing. After the flow/script is complete then the checklist is done to confirm all the items are completed. Any missed switches are then corrected by the co pilot or the Pilot Flying (You). Best Regards David
January 26, 201412 yr Author Hi David, Thank you for the comprehensive solution. It has forced me to start using Vox! I'm just scraping the tip of the iceberg. I saw the use of the jetway edited out of one file. Do you know if this works? Gary, CIMEL, retired FAA Controller & all around good guy!
January 26, 201412 yr Hi Gary, Vox Script is another creative gift MCE gives us! B) Jetways, as in the Aerosoft Jetways? That's a thorny issue. I started, at first, using AES and Aerosoft airports. All was well because AES and Aerosoft are best of friends! I use GSX now. Aerosoft + GSX are not friends! In other words Jetways at Aerosoft airports wont work unless you are running AES. I have to run both AES and GSX to get the Jetways to work. This has the detrimental effect of using more FSX VAS and at Zurich its getting VAS heavy! However its the only way to get the Aerosoft Jetways to work. The ground guys are falling over themselves to service your aircraft, which is quite amusing. But it does work. I have not seen any Orbx Jetways working and have not had time to explore that avenue. Best Regards David
January 26, 201412 yr Commercial Member You can actually create a custom voice command in VoxKey (Not Voxscript) that would trigger the Jetway. Say whatever you want, and the key combo to trigger the jetway will be sent to the sim, without you having to memorise it. Gerald R https://www.multicrewxp.com
January 27, 201412 yr Author Hi Gerald, Thanks for the tip. I used voxkey and now have a jet way that responds to my voice. Gary, CIMEL, retired FAA Controller & all around good guy!
