Autocruise Flaws

Featured Replies

Hello

I have read through the issues log and searched the forum for topics related to autocruise and only found this topic back in October which describes the problem I am having with autocruise:

http://forum.avsim.net/topic/424553-unable-to-turn-off-autocruise/

Unfortunately there was no solution/fix in the above post so I thought I would raise the issue again.

Love this feature but lately it has been ruining my flights. I set autocruise at 8X and enable its use via the right click option on the CHR but occasionally it does not want to disable with a right click on the CHR and the 777 continues to fly at 8X while the digits turn red on the CHR. The only way I can disable it is through the FMS. As this is a random event, it is very hard to reproduce exactly when it happens but I am certain there is something that needs fixing.

I also want to add that my last two flights were ruined as I was in autocruise 8X, nearing T/D and then suddenly the sim accelerates to max 128X and sends me way off course!! Again, right clicking the CHR does not disable the autocruise and the CHR digits turn red and back to green.

Anyone else experiencing these issues with autocruise? I really hope PMDG acknowledges this and offer a fix for the soon to be released update.

Thanks

You said you tried turning it off via right click, I assume you mean left click?

Like Bryan Richards hinted at, you must left click the CHR to return to normal time.

If I recall correctly, I have tried both right and left clicks but still have the same problem. I will try only left clicking from now on and report back.

The sudden 128X max sim rate still needs to be addressed though........

I only use 8X if the course is relatively straight, with turns of only a few degrees. And I'm always monitoring the flight's progress. If I must leave the computer, I reduce the time acceleration rate to 4X or 2X.

It always works for me the few times I use it. I pause the add on wx programs before turning it on. Once I'm near TOD I turn the wx back on.

so I completed OMDB to LFPG today with autocruise set at 8X. Right click to activate and Left click to deactivate.

The autocruise worked as intended however I experienced the problem once (777 remains at 8X with CHR digits turning red and then back to green) without the ability to disable it via Left click. It happened during CRZ when there was a sudden wind shift. I believe autocruise function does not play well with wind shifts. Like Ash posted, it may be best to disable addon weather programs when in autocruise mode.

Also did not experience the sudden 128X max sim rate issue this time around.
