PMDG Map Switch, what does it do?

Featured Replies

I have the PMDG T7. There is a button "Map". When I click on it the button moves but I do not see what it does. Am I missing something? What does it do?

Thanks

Jim

Where exactly is this button located?

The MAP mode is recommended for most phases of flight. Presented track up, this mode shows airplane position relative to the route of flight against a moving map background.

The PLN mode is presented true north up. The active route may be viewed using the STEP prompt on the CDU LEGS pages.

If you're asking about the switch on the glareshield between the mic and clock buttons, it's for the map light above your head.

He's asking about the map display for the ND screen. It selects the map view vs. plan view or whatever display mode you are looking for. Map view is the standard view.

Jim:

Whether you're asking about the Map light switch or the ND MAP function, both are covered in detail in Volume 2 of the FCOM. If you don't have that document, go to the Operations Center and download it.

Also, I see that this is your first post, so welcome to the PMDG 777 forum! Just one word of advice -- try to search for the answer on your own before posting here. Although the number of pages of documentation is a bit daunting, they do contain an enormous amount of information. Since all of the documents are in PDF format, you can search them very easily. And they make for some interesting reading.

Well said!  The importance and value of the manuals cannot be overstated.
