January 31, 201412 yr Recently I tried out "Tom's HUD" for the Bell 206 but it didn't work for me. I took the precaution of backing up files as he suggested, and following the HUD failure, I re-installed them. However, in the process, I have lost the Bell 206 from the Free Flight stable and would like to recapture it. Any kind soul out there who could offer me some helpful advice....preferably short of re-installing FSX. Thanks, folks. PS And is there a similar HUD suitable for FSX that actually works? January 31, 201412 yr Forget about the default if you lost it. Go with: http://www.eaglerotorcraftsimulations.com/fsx_bell206b.php No idea about the HUD on a 206. Military pilots have a helmet HUD anyway. Use your eyes and keep an eye on airspeed and vertical velocity indicator.
January 31, 201412 yr Commercial Member There are several possibilities for a plane / helicopter not showing up in your plane selection screen, but most of them have to do with missing files or folders. Depending on how you re-installed the files you had backed up, you may have possibly deleted something by accident. Right now might not be the best time to tell you that having a full backup or copy of a completely stock / unmodified install of FSX is always a good idea - potentially saves one from unneeded installs. If you had a backup copy, you could simply copy the whole 'Bell206B' folder from the backup to your working install, which would restore any accidentally deleted files. Sorry, I know that's not what you wanted to hear! In regards to your other question, there are a few different helicopter HUD's available; I'm not sure which one 'Tom's HUD' is, but I do know a few of them can be found over in the Hovercontrol library - always a good place to look when you're after helicopter specific stuff. The only possible thing to note is that most of them require a bit of knowledge of both the FSX aircraft file structure as well as how to edit the panel.cfg file; which is not bad stuff to learn if you're wanting to mess around with gauges!
