CTD when accessing menus

Featured Replies

Hello there

I have read about these CTD scenarios since FSX come about in 2006 but have never experienced them until now.  I just bought a new PC and have installed FSX and a few addons.  Over the past two days I have notcied that FSX CTD's only when I try to change something in the menu system.  I can fly perfectly fine, but as soon as I access the menu system it crashes at the point where I click 'OK' to confirm my menu change.  I use fullscreen

There is so much written here on this, I dont know where to start.  Given my particular scnario,  is there any particular source I can reference to start diagnosing the problem?

My PC is:

i7  4770 @4.3ghx

GTX780 Nvidia

8 GM memory

30 inch Dell 3014

650W PSU

Thanks

You can check out the excellent AVSIM CTD Guide where the uiautomationcore.dll is explained on pages 5 and 6.  I have exactly the same system as yours (except I have a 850 PSU and 16GB's of memory - which is way too much for FSX).  I do not employ the uiautomationcore.dll and have never gotten the menu crash (which is right-clicking several times in the FSX menu).  I have never been successful keeping my system stable with an overclock above 4.2GHz.  You state in your OP that you have an i7 4770 overclocked at 4.3GHz.  Did you make a mistake and forget to add the "K" at the end of 4770?  Overclocking an i7 4770 (locked) is impossible and you need the 4770K version.

You need to download and run AppCrashView and post the crash report here so it can be analyzed (see page 1 of the AVSIM CTD Guide).

Best regards,

Thanks Jim, I'll have a look at the guide.

Yes, it's a 4770K processor - overclocked professionally by the PC company (Overclockers UK)  It is the third o/c'd machine I have bought from them over the past 6 years.
