FMC: "ARR N/A for Runway"

Featured Replies

I was flying the NGX with the original AIRAC data into YBBN (orbx) and was assigned a runway by FSX ATC. I chose a STAR, and got this FMC message: ARR N/A for runway. Can someone explain what this would indicate?  I thought it meant that the STAR was not for that runway, but I'm not certain (and I enjoy the education from my colleagues).

Thanks.

Arrival not applicable for runway.

It's a runway/operations-dependent STAR.  I'd have to see it to explain it, but the gist of it is that the STAR is set up to serve the opposite end of the runway, generally.  For what it's worth, FSX ATC is trash and I'd avoid it at all costs.  It isn't very good with SIDs or STARs, particularly in cases like this.

Thanks for the answer. I also agree with your thoughts about FSX ATC, but I am torn between PFE and RC4. The big issue that keeps me from leaping away from the default is the mechanical voices with those add ons.

VATSIM my friend, VATSIM. Flew AAL344 KMCO-KMSY and had ATC pretty much the entire flight, was amazing. The controllers in South and West always seems to be very good what what they do.

I'm with Ron (above).  VATSIM is really where it is (or whatever other online network of choice).  There's a reason real world ATC still isn't automated: computers suck at it.

Stop through ZDC.  We'll make sure to treat you well.

...as long as you don't call the controller "DC Center." :P

Thank you for the advice about VATSIM, I will look into it, and I won't say "DC Center"

haha - you're welcome.  Yep - it's "Washington Center."  I always love it when I hear the following:

"Uh, DeeCee Center, blah blah blah."

"[Flight Number], Washington Center, roger. blah blah blah."

...and they continue to use DC Center...
