New York City X and Prepard3d v2.1

Featured Replies

Just bought the above add on from sim market (says it is prepa3d ready) but when I try and install

it I get "can not find prepard3d in registry" - so doesn't let me progress the install - anyone got any ideas on how to solve this ?(Note - I do have the migration tool but from what I have read this add on should work with prepar3d!) - I also have my prepar3d installed to my E drive...

Is there not an option to direct the install?

What I would do is make an empty FSX nest using only FSX.exe in it and hide the original FSX (rename it) the install it here and then copy that to P3D

But it should install in Prepar3D (NOT V2 maybe) so make a fake nest there then

Peppy - actually there is a prepar3d option (no version given)..........which I select but it says it doesn't find the prepar3d in the registry........I do have the Estonia migration tool which I guess does much the same as your suggestion?

I had exactly the same problem with LatinVFR's San Diego scenery.  The installer for that had me select either FSX (which I don't have installed) or P3D.  I choose P3D and it failed with the same message.

Just run the migration tool and enable Virtual FSX.  Then run your scenery installer again and choose P3D as your platform.

Doing that made my scenery installer happy, and it continued with the installation.

Spoke to quickly!

Installed ok and got it running - the problem is when I am running it during daytime I get black textures on all the buildings!! (note I am using it with prepar3d2.1)

Does anyone know how to solve this and is it a known issue?

I think that you've answered your own question. New York X is not compatible with V2.0 or 2.1. I've tried it myself with the same results.

Its the same texture loading issue present with FSX.. for me they take several seconds (maybe 10) at times, then fill in the correct color.  Performance isnt much better with this addon in P3D v2.1 than it is in 2.0 or FSX.. maybe slightly better than fsx (i'm running real high res 5670x1080 and in a small addon plane buzzing by the new building in NYC, frames are between 17-20 fps with fair weather, but can dip as low as 15 at times depending on the area).  I had to "turn off" some of the bgls to make the frame rate go up (slightly) and work better with FTXG vector lighting (mentioned in other threads).

Thanks for the advice.

Just wondering if you choose to install with the lower res version is the situation any better?

np.. i tried the lower res, but couldnt see a fps difference.. i ran the same route, even used fraps to bench the exact same route, no real change for me.. i cant recall if it helped with the slow texture refresh though.. i want to say it didnt..

actually my issue doesn't seem to be a loading one !

the textures just always appear black.......

I'm not sure if this is even remotely the issue or if you verified this, but is the correct entry located in the Scenery.CFG file for this area?  I don't have EMT.

My Scenery.CFG is located here:  C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2

There should be lines near the bottom for your installed scenery like this:

[Area.xxx]         (xxx = area number)
Title=New York X   (or whatever it's called)
Local=D:\Prepar3D v2\aerosoft\New York X\          (or whatever directory it installed to, I don't have it)
Active=TRUE
Layer=xxx         (same number as in Area.xxx above)
Required=FALSE
