Does ORBX Global need UTX?

Featured Replies

Is it really necessary to have UTX enabled when using ORBX Global?  If UTX is not used, what else must be used for a complete visual experience?  I question this, because I have both products and I get Scenery errors if I disable UTX.   Since I'm awaiting a new computer (being built now), I want to install ONLY the necessary scenery addons for the best experience.

No - Orbx Global is a stand alone addon for FSX. UTX can be used alongside Orbx Global but does not have to be enabled. although if you want to get the benefit of the FTX lights then it may best to disable UTX lights . Orbx or FTX Global essentially upgrades the textures and autogen for FSX but UTX  provides vector and landclass data etc. Both are complimentary in that sense but if you plan to get FTX Vector then that might not be compatible with part of UTX.

Since most of my flying is done in the US I got UTX and it works great with FTX Global.

SO...you're saying that UTX "enhances" FTX Global?

Stan

UTX has been enhancing FSX for a loonnnggg time! Whatever FSX may be on a texture basis; be it default, GEX or whatever the textures used, the better road, coastline, river, lake and other features of UTX makes FSX better. From my point of view, of course.

You can't compaare a vector-based product to a texture-based product.
