P3DV2.1 - San Carlos to Monterey

Featured Replies

Enjoyed this early morning flight, OpusFSX did a great job with weather depiction given how difficult it is to setup the micro-climates around SF/Bay Area and Monterey.

Cheers, Rob.

Very nice Rob!  I noticed a lot of flickering at the end of the runway as you were landing.  I saw this too in Flight Beam's KSFO going between taxiways.  It looks almost exactly like Z-fighting we saw in the non-fixed version of DX10 Preview.  Perhaps Steve needs to come up with a DX11 Fixer as he eliminated that in DX10.  But, in any case, very impressed with your video and your piloting of the A2A 172.

Thanks Jim,

Yeah the flickering at runway start/end are shadows being cast by the fence (video compression blurs it more) ... I'm all for LM getting more resources/help, I think they've chatted with Steve informally?  He's done some great work for DX10 FSX platform.  LM have submitted to nVidia for driver/profile so will be interesting to see what happens there.

A2A C-172 is definitely more difficult that other single props in my hanger.  I was practicing crosswind landings at Vienna and made an almost text book perfect landing ... but wasn't recording at the time - ugh.  But, I've also had my fair share of really bad landings ... just gotta keep at it.

Cheers, Rob.

Hi Rob,

I have to agree with Firehawk, cool video. But, you're killing me, your videos are convincing me to, not only buy Northern Cali, to also buy some new pc parts. {8>) I've been running my AMD hex-core for 3 yrs, maybe it's time to reassign it to home entertainment box.

Cheers, Craig.

You do very well Rob!  One of these days I'm going to take some time and learn video recording!  Thanks for your explanation about the z-fighting I saw.  I'm sorry for not getting back sooner but we were down for some time and, when I looked for the topic, I could not find it until today.  It would be nice if SteveP could get in there and fix the shadowing issue which fixed the z-fighting in FSX.  I haven't looked since the update and the hotfix so maybe they have it fixed.
