March 3, 201412 yr Getting ready to switch MB's and got to thinking about Thermal Paste. I looked thru my stuff and see I have several different compounds and wondered if one of you OC'er's could steer me in the correct direction? I plan to OC to 4.8 or so, if that makes a difference and expect to see high temps of around the low 70c or so. I am hoping to be able to use one of he compounds I already have, as I would have to order something else online, no place around here to pick any decent stuff up. I have: Antec a 5 Silver Antec Reference Silver Antec Formula 7 Nano Diamond All are a few years old and appear to be okay. Thought I had some Noctua NT-H1 when I ordered the MB, but just found the tube was empty. Thanks Rick S.
March 3, 201412 yr I am personally a big fan of arctic Silver 5, but you will notice a lot of people have a preference of their own. I would like to suggest to make sure it is well mixed though if it is a couple of year old, it might not even be usable any more, and since its only $6, it could be worth buying a new fresh one.
March 3, 201412 yr Author Good point on the "mixing". I will have to waste the whole tube to do that. The $6.00 isn't the point, shipping $ and delivery time are the bigger issue. Thanks Rick S
March 4, 201412 yr I favour Innovation Cooling's Diamond paste. It's quite thick stuff, so best applied using the blob method. That's the best method anyway to be honest, as tests have demonstrated that it avoids air pockets. I've found it to preform admirably.
