March 15, 201412 yr I updated Orbx FTX Global last week. I ran the default Trike flight at Friday Harbour set at night time and saw that the water textures appeared to be sitting on tiles. I pressed the F12 key for the top-down view and as I pressed the minus key pulling back I could see the textures as they sat as mip maps starting from the smallest (where I was located) to very large tiles outside my view. I posted at the Orbx site and the reply was simply that it was a default FSX issue. I then decided to run FSX in DX9 mode and the water appeared normal. Here is what it looks like with DX10 active: Some files were converted when I ran the DX10SF utility but the water texture remains the same and has me stumped. I can live with the water night time textures being this way for the time being. I am wondering if anyone is experiencing the same issue with or without the DX10 SF utility? Probably going to have to reinstall Global, I am wondering if there is an issue with the LCLOOKUP file? \Robert Hamlich/
March 15, 201412 yr Commercial Member DX10SF changes two files (other than effects) - the DX10 bkg.bmp and the DX9 envmap.bmp and it puts them back when you uninstall the libraries. Have you installed 32bit water textures? My FSX Analysis Blog
March 15, 201412 yr Author I have installed DXT5 textures from ActiveSky and REX. When I set each to install the back-up default textures the night water texture hadn't changed. So it leads me to believe that FTX Global has a set of water textures that it installs. If it doesn't then it is a quick fix because I have the generic FSX textures backed up and would simply have to drop them into the FSX\Textures folder. \Robert Hamlich/
March 16, 201412 yr Author I checked FTX Global and there aren't any replacements for water. I uninstalled DX10 libraries, copied bkg.bmp and envmap.bmp from my backup folder into the Texture folder, re-installed DX10 libraries and there is no change. I am going to leave this as is. Thanks for your help Steve. \Robert Hamlich/
