Uninstall FSX in Win 7

Featured Replies

Excuse for lack of computer knowledge, but....  How can I uninstall FSX completely??  I have my original FSX disks.  Can I merely go to Win 7 add/remove programs and uninstall FSX? Or.... does ALL the associated files have to be removed.

Thanks for the advice:

I used your first reference with sucess. It appears that ALL FSX files were removed.

Then along with the suggested procedures I installed FSX Delux Edition discs (2) that came with the Gold Edition of FSX. ( 3 disc set)

I checked with my Win 7 "Program and Features" I wanted to assure that FSX WAS installed.

.I noticed that MSFSX:Acceleration was installed.  I didn't use the 3rd disc to install it.

I hestitate to go any further .  Any advice???

Thanks in advance

That's strange I just installed FSX Gold and did not notice the third Acceleration disk. PMDG 777 would not let me install it because it thought I had the basic FSX which require SP1 and SP2. Acceleration was definitely not on the #1 or #2 disks. I finally realized my mistake and downloaded the Acceleration disk. Did you have FSX acceleration before, I'd remove it just in case, but someone with more knowledge then me might differ. You have the Acceleration disc to re-install anyway.

When you install FSX it will show in the Add/Remove programs that you have FSX installed. If you have Acceleration, it will show Acceleration is installed. FSX would not have installed if you had Acceleration installed. I don't own the Gold edition but believe it installs everything including Acceleration which is really a very small program. If you were able to activate the Gold Edition, then you have Acceleration installed.
