Best freeware upgrade path for global scenery

Hi,

There seems to be a few options and was curious what most are doing.

Simheaven OSM with Alpilotx HD Mesh v2 + Trees and farms v2.

Actually this could really be classed as DonationWare but you can d/l for free.

Apart from that there's not much else until World2Xplane matures, now that will really make a difference in XP. :)

Dave,

Thanks for the reply! I was wondering if you know which files to download for the xplane Demo Area ? I am not sure what is included for scenery for the demo to be honest. These files are quite large and was trying to get something as quickly as possible. I would assume that both the OSM download and the Alpilotx HD are sectioned out by lat-lon but not sure about the trees and farms. Maybe just the west coast files and I can go from there.

Download the NA OSM file:

http://simheaven.com/?page_id=23

You can get the HD Mesh v2 for your area by looking at the map:

http://www.alpilotx.net/downloads/x-plane-10-hd-scenery-mesh-v2/#Via-file-mirror-from-ISDG

The map will show you which file you need but I think it will be +40-130

And not forgetting the Trees & Farms USA:

http://www.alpilotx.net/downloads/x-plane-10-tree-lines-and-farms-v2/#USA

Of course there is no substitute for the Global Version of XP10. :)

Hey thanks Dave!

I saw the map before and clicked, but nothing happened. I went back and there was the link to the download. Thanks!!

What did you mean by "Of course there is no substitute for the Global version"? There must be some humor in there somewhere because of the smiley face but not quite sure what it is.

Just meant that if you're enjoying the XP10 demo, you will really enjoy the full (global) version if/when you get it. :)

OK, LOL, I knew it was sarcasm but you just never know. I was looking at LFPN and it looks like a beautiful little regional! Farmland, a golf course, really nice indeed. How close are you to the airport?

Just a few miles away, I sometimes pop by if I'm out for a bike ride on a sunny day to watch a few T/O and landings.

Very nice indeed. I looks very inviting. Would love to move and get out of Houston. Could you adopt me?  :O

And although I'm sure most would recommend you buy global discs you can buy XP North America for about 30 bucks online. That's what I did.

I have the demo anyway at this and have waited all this time for improvements and of course the xp10 price to go down. Soon.

Thanks
