Tracking a course in T7

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm now flying the T7, beside the PMDG737NGX. in the 737 I usually tracked the course via the nav-Buttion on the Glareshield.

In the T7 its completely different. I put the course in the NAV/RAD-Page and then? How to track the course? Which further steps I have to do, in order the T7 follows the course?

I need your assistance.

Above the heading window you can select TRK

Hi,

Do you mean following a radial from/to a VOR?

If it is the case, there is no "NAV" function to do so in the T7. You need to enter a dct to the VOR in the leg page of the FMC, then on the bottom right, enter the desired "Intc crs to" and then exec.

It is valid for any kind of waypoint, fix, intersection, VOR, NDB...

Or you can set the VOR and course in the nav/rad page and follow it with hdg sel.

Thanks to all,

yes Budbud, I meant following a radial from/to a VOR. I did it so long in the second described way. Now I will take my experience in the first described way.

Flex1978, I wil try your hint as well, I find him plausible, cause it 's fitting more to my former experiences, cause in my opinion a plane should to be navigated without feeding fmc.

The button HDG / TRK doesn't allow you to follow a radial but to switch between a heading and a track.

The difference between both of them is "only" that the track compensate for any drift due to wind.

The track switch allows you so to follow a magnetic track over the ground with no drift, but it is not related to any waypoint.

Correct, I just gave the quick & dirty method (which works)

The 737 is the only Boeing that has a dedicated VOR tracking mode. All of the others require use of the INTC CRS or in the case of the 777 the INTC FROM function in the FMC to do it. (you should monitor the VOR raw data on the ND with the EFIS pointers while doing this)

Doesn't our beloved and underrated MD11 track radials? :) I guess not technically a Boeing although they own MD

or in the case of the 777 the INTC FROM function in the FMC to do it

Uh? I know the "Intc crs to" in the leg page, but I have missed the "Intc from"?

I keep learning about this bird, now I need to find where it is.
