Conversion of FS Video files

Featured Replies

Hope this is the right place to ask this.Has anyone come across a (hopefully free) utility that can convert the FS2004 Video files (FSR extension) that you can record while flying - into a more universal format such as mpeg? Would like to share my "perfect landings" with other family members who do not have FS2004.Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Actually those FS video files only record the motion of the plane within the sim, kind of like a black box. The only way to put it in a mpeg video file is to playback the video in FS and use a screen recorder such as FRAPS, or a hardware solution to record it into a video file.

I'd like to take it a step further and make a screen saver out of one of my better landings. Anybod done that?Owen

Wow.. that's pretty awesome! A nice screen capture AND video capture. I gave it a run on the trial version and it works as advertised. However, be careful. I ran a 30 second clip of just flying around and the AVI video was 120 MB in size!

RE: Making a screen saver with the "perfect landing".YES - I use the FRAPS program to capture a AVI file then reduce it's size using one of the recommended methods in the FRAPS help file.I the found a great little shareware program at http://www.zdnet.com/downloads/ called avimpg - it allows you to use one or multiple "movie" files in various formats as a screensaver.Just do a search for Sreen Saver Maker at ZDnet and you should see it.Works great for me.Hope this helps.
