April 21, 201412 yr Can someone tell me how I stop Windows trying to install the same updates every time that I shut down the computer? Two of them are IE10 and IE11, both of which never end up being installed. Surely there must be a way for me to dump them into the nearest passing black hole, so that I never have to see their sorry asses again? April 21, 201412 yr You can choose which updates you want by going to Control Panel. Look for the Windows Update section. Once there, simply untick the ones you don't want.
April 21, 201412 yr Author Thanks, Billl.....but I am not convinced that the ones I have unticked will stay that way. I will just have to wait and see, but I would prefer to dispose of the four troublesome updates completely. They never install, so they are not welcome on my PC. April 21, 201412 yr Hello, If you right click on the ones you dont want their should be a menu which pops up, if you click on 'Hide Update' then it'll never bother you again. Hope this helps Glen
April 21, 201412 yr Author Thanks, Glen. Fingers crossed that this works, and I don't have to use the "black hole" method. Getting one of these to come close to Earth could end up being rather messy  Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
April 22, 201412 yr You can also check the update history to see what actually got installed. If you don't like the updat, do a system restore.
